About Us

From a seed, we are blossoming.

tsain-ko Development Corporation began as an idea.
A belief that our Nations’ economic prospects and progress would realize their greatest potential under our own power, following our own guidance and direction.

Since creation, the Red Cedar tree has provided for our culture and art, our housing, healing and commerce; tsain-ko is the Tree that fuels our economic growth and prosperity.

Nurturing, protecting and optimizing our lands, assets and partnerships

In just over ten years, our tree has grown to encompass

11 operating companies;

branches of expertise, knowledge, learning and opportunity extending throughout our community and swiya, growing organically, and rooted in the culture of our people.

With 60 full time employees,

of which the majority are shishalh nation members, we operate in commercial and residential real estate development and management, Natural Resources such as Forestry and Fishing, and our Industrial divisions include Mining, Trucking, Hauling, Excavation, Concrete and Aggregate.

ABOUT OUR NATION

The swiya of the shishalh people lies between Queens Reach in lekw’emin (Jervis Inlet) and Howe Sound on the south coast of British Columbia. Historically there were four main settlements at kalpilin (Pender Harbour), ts’unay (Deserted Bay), xenichen (head of lekw’emin) and tewankw near alhtulich (Porpoise Bay).

shishalh Nation is committed to innovation in program and service delivery designed to assist our members and community to achieve greater independence, wellness and self-sufficiency. Foundational to our shared work is the protection, promotion and practice of shishalh culture, language and laws within our swiya.

tsain-ko Development Corporation is the parent company of the shishalh Nation’s economic development arm and is comprised of a number of corporations and limited partnerships involved in carrying out its four primary economic functions: Natural Resources, Commercial Properties, Capacity Building, and Business Support.
