    OUR HIRING POLICY

    FIRST NATIONS FIRST

    Our hiring policy, as approved by Chief and Council, is designed to prioritize employment for shishalh Nation members, while at the same time ensuring our company is set up to successfully deliver on our contractual obligations. This policy is guided by Section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code and Section 15 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which state that preference may be given to qualified candidates with Aboriginal Ancestry.

    Our hiring policy outlines the following priorities for eligible candidates that attain equivalent interview scores and hold similar qualifications.

    We understand that this can be a challenge at times, but we believe that this hiring approach enables us to promote the interests of our Nation, support our employees’ families, and attract the right people for the work. It is essential to note that our commitment to this hiring policy remains steadfast, and we strive to foster a workforce that brings together diverse perspectives and experiences.
